Insta360 is one of the more popular portable action camera brands in the market. They are known for the 360-degree cameras, which the market did not quite adopt in mass. I used to love shooting in 360-degree when the format started getting traction, but sadly it’s a rather cumbersome format to appreciate, as the number of applications to view 360 image are limited, and the resolution is not as high as standard images because more pixels are required to capture the entire 360 scene.
Anyway, back to Insta360, the ONE RS is an update to the ONE R. This series offer interchangeable components consisting of three parts – battery, processor and lenses. This modular system means you get more use cases within a single product range, the biggest reason why your digital SLR can outlive your interest. The ONE RS lenses and core are cross-compatible with the previous ONE R generation, so owners can upgrade their camera at their own pace.
New features:
- New 4K Boost Lens with 1/2″ 48MP image sensor and captures 4K 60fps videos. Supports Active HDR and 6K Widescreen mode
- FlowState Stabilization delivered through hardware for smoother videos
- Additional mic on the Core
- 50% faster Wi-Fi
- Instant Zoom function for digitally zooming in up to 2.7x
- IPX8 water proofing to 16 feet
- Redesigned mounting bracket with quick release mechanism for switching lenses on the fly
- Quick Reader accessory to transfer file to SD card.
Other than an action camera, the Insta360 can also be double up as live-streaming camera or as a webcam when connected to the computer. All Insta360 content can be edited with the Insta360 editing suite, like Snap Wizard, FlashCut, Studio software for Mac and Windows, as well as free plugins for Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro.
