The Sudio F2 is the second speaker in their catalogue. The first speaker, the Femtio, was launched in 2020, and this newer speaker – I’m guessing “F” for “Femtio” – offers a good alternative in the Sudio speaker line-up. The speaker might appear small on photos but is 105mm on each of the square side. It has a simple attractive yet functional design: the top panel is a row of embossed keys with a short sling to hook it anywhere or hold it with your fingers. It comes in two colours – white (which looks more like light cream) and black. The surface is coated with matt silicone, which will offer some resistance to abuse, but grime sticks to the surface easier.

The exposed passive radiator behind the speaker offers both aesthetic and function, offering owners something to look at when playing music. According to the spec, the is a 3-inch driver and a 1-inch driver inside the F2 with a total 20W output. It is possible to link up to 100 speakers to enjoy bigger sound. Bluetooth 5.3 pairing is very fast. It will go into pairing mode when no devices are found. It can also connect directly using 3.5mm cable to your audio source, but you need to turn on the power to play audio.

With built-in microphone, the F2 can also work as a speakerphone for take phone calls which will be useful for people with hybrid work arrangements. The F2 speaker definitely beats your smartphone or your office laptop speaker quality. The speaker battery lasts up to 15 hours play time and takes 4 hours to fully charge it.

The audio balance favours the low midrange to treble frequency, making the sound reproduction well-defined. The bass does not resonate enough to impress but delivers a subtle sense of depth especially when you listen to it at arm’s length. Treble is forward and sparkly that overpowers the bass for pop genres. The sound output lacks the space, making it sound compact.
Comparatively, the Creative MUVO Go is a better speaker to deliver fuller sound, more prominent bass while the treble is recessed but balanced to support the strong bass for loud genres. If you prefer a fuller sounding output compromising treble sparkle, it would be MUVO Go; if you prefer better vocal and instrumental clarity with less depth, it would be Sudio F2. Apart from audio differences, the Sudio F2 has more features, including 3.5mm input and microphone.

Verdict
The Sudio F2 is a versatile portable wireless speaker with good sound, IPX7 water resistance, support 3.5mm connection, and with built-in microphone. It’s one of the most compact speakers I have reviewed that I like, not because of the sound, but of the overall package. There is no two ways about it: big sound requires large drivers. Small speakers are compromises but they have a place in the consumer’s world – portable, wireless, convenient. The Sudio F2 is also value for money with the 15% discount (use promo code MUSICPHOTOLIFE15) and free shipping when ordering from Sudio website.
