Last month, I was approach by Gaston Luga on a collaboration to promote their backpack. Gaston Luga is a brand from Stockholm, Sweden, and their quality backpacks have nice European design character.

The GL Clässic backpack is designed for everyday use thanks to its stylish design and durable materials: cotton canvas body, premium-looking vegan leather (PU) accents and metal buckles. But I’d like to say it’s for “any day” use: for work, school, travel, gym, family, outing, shopping. It looks premium and stylish, which will go well if you dress up. At the same time, it looks casual, which also won’t look out of place if you dress down.
The base is supported with rounded metallic feet that sits well on surfaces.
It has one main compartment, front zipper with magnetic buckles, and rear pocket to store important stuff like passports that would be hard to reach if you wear both shoulder straps.
In my case, I used it to store my true wireless earbud case.
The main compartment with classy maroon-coloured lining has a padded slot for laptop up to 14-inch and 2 pockets that are large enough to fit the Samsung Galaxy Note10+.
The shoulder straps made of the same cotton canvas material are not padded, thus do not feel as comfortable when carrying excessive weight.
However, the grip handle at the top of the backpack is generously thick, making the backpack comfortable to hold with your hand.
The overall size is suitable for both men and women, and wifey could tell that the GL backpacks are quality stuff as she observed that the workmanship is excellent.
More importantly, the colour goes perfectly with my Master & Dynamic MW65 headphones.
Compared to all my previous backpacks with separate zip compartments, the GL backpack’s single main compartment is not as easy to access. The Clässic can fit a laptop up to 30cm long (with 12 to 13-inch display depending on the thickness of the bezel), but it might obstruct the opening, and the velcro strap would be unable to secure the device.
A smaller device of around 22cm long (about 10-inch) would sit within the padded area. From another perspective, the non-zip design with magnetic flap closure makes access rather fast yet sufficiently secure.
If you need a backpack that fits a large laptop properly, I would recommend getting the largest-size Pråper (S$179). But I prefer the style of Clässic and so I opted for design over function. And I’m rather delighted to find that the GL Clässic is the best looking backpack among my collection.
