Sennheiser does not make a lot of sport earphones. In fact, the last one it launched was back in 2015 with the 686 series SPORTS headphones. After nearly 3 years, they have launched another sport earphones, the CX Sport, so that Sennheiser fans finally can enjoy great audio quality while working out.
The CX series offer value-for-money audio products, and in recent months, the models mirror the premium Momentum series. For instance, the CX 7.00 BT is the neckband equivalent of Momentum Wireless M2 IEBT, and the CX 3.00 resembles the Momentum M2 IE. This time, the CX Sport, which is the fitness version of the CX 6.00 BT, is the parallel of Momentum Free.
The main difference between the Momentum and the CX series is in the in-ear drivers. Momentum earphones have wide frequency response which means they have better bass and clearer treble. Still, the CX Sport earphones sound above average compared to other brand earphones, with detailed treble, heightened airiness and a comfortable bass response. Outside the workout, these wireless earphones sound great if you like your music to generate the sizzles and airiness. Plus, they support aptX low-latency codec, better than most wireless sports earphones. Swap out the ear fins to normal eartips to reduce the glare. I do find the ear fins a little too soft and feels like they would slip out.
The earphones are treated to endure sweat and water splashes, and the cord is shorter than most other wireless earphones so that they do not dangle and swing during workouts, or use the included clip to cinch the cord shorter if needed. The CX Sport uses lightweight materials, so they don’t weigh you down during runs.
Batteries last for 6 hours in one charge, and takes 1.5 hours to charge fully, another plus point for these wireless buds.
Verdict
If you are a sports lover and a Sennheiser lover, then this is the wireless earphones to get. Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy the bright audio quality without settling for alternative brands for sweat resistance. CX Sport offers good battery life, good audio codec, and lightweight It retails at S$209 and available at all good electronic stores and online shops.
