On 12 April 2024, the National Library Open Stage Originals Session presents 2 of Singapore’s contemporary composer pianists, Chester Tan and Peng Chi Sheng, who will be performing their soulful piano originals!
Chester Tan is an award-winning Singapore composer who has published over 100 piano instrumental compositions under the “Piano Spa” title series by Warner Music Singapore. The series propelled Chester to the status of a top local instrumentalist, resulting in a 4-consecutive year win (from 2011-2014) at the Singapore COMPASS Awards as Top Local Composer (Instrumental) and COMPASS Young Composer of the Year (2011).
C.S. Peng (Chi Sheng) is a pianist and composer who started out writing tunes for singers in the Mandarin pop music industry. These include Hong Kong Superstar Tony Leung 梁朝伟 《这次是真的》 and veteran Singaporean Singer Maggie Teng 邓妙华 《时限》 and many others. Moving forward, he has since developed another aspect of his musical talents, moving into piano instrumental music, and has since released more than 50 piano instrumental pieces.
