Samsung has announced the latest Galaxy S22 series, with the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, as well. as the Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra. All products will commence pre-order now and all pre-orders will be able to collect (or receive by delivery) from 26 Feb. Retail availability will be from 4 Mar 2022. Prices range from S$1,178 (Galaxy S22 128GB) to S$1,998 (Galaxy S22 Ultra 512GB) and S$2,188 (Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 256GB). All pre-orders come with complimentary gifts and e-vouchers. The S22 and S22+ follows the S21-series design legacy while the S22 Ultra inherits the Galaxy Note design language. This is a clear indication that the Note series has been subsumed into the S-series, which I feel is a good move.
Galaxy S22 Ultra: 2 Legacies in One
The S22 Ultra carries the torches of both the S21 Ultra and the Note20, delivering the ultimate S-series to satisfy the productivity-driven executive and the camera-hungry content creators. Its camera system combines 4 rear lenses working together through Adaptive Pixel Technology to capture all the photography magic: from 100X Space Zoom to the low-light photography (Samsung calls it “Nightography“), advanced Portrait modes for human subjects and pets. It also promises super steady always-stable video in all light conditions and an Expert RAW mode for the demanding photographers.

The S Pen department is also enhanced with 3x lower latency (from 9ms to 2.8ms) so writing feels smoother and more natural, handwriting-to-text feature for up to 88 languages, Pop-up Notes for more seamless note-capture, and a Collaboration Mode where you can use the S22 Ultra as a tool panel with the new Galaxy Tab S8 series. Like the Note20, the S Pen slot is at the left side instead of the right (on the Note10), and as a result, it feels less intuitive to access the S Pen.
Finally, the S22 Ultra uses the latest 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor for the Singapore units, a much-appreciated popular choice for the local market. The display is also boosted to achieve up to 1750 nits brightness, so that you can still view the screen even in broad daylight.

Galaxy Tab S8 Series
Also announced during the same event is the new Tab S8, Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra, which includes many of the enhancements described on the Galaxy S22 series, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, One UI Tab 4, improved S Pen interaction. More importantly, the Tab S8 is more integrated with the S22 series to enable cross-device collaboration (like using your Galaxy S22 as a palette to draw on the Tab S8. Quick Share between devices reach two-times faster thanks to Wi-Fi 6E. Armour Aluminum is used as the body and frame for the Tab S8 allowing the devices to be thinner and lighter while retaining durability.
The star of the series must be the Tab S8 Ultra, offering a whopping 14.6-inch display. This is a reminiscent of the Galaxy Note PRO 12.2-inch which I owned many years back. The huge screen is awesome for multi-window applications for the best multi-tasking experience. It also comes with dual 12MP front camera, one of which offers 120-degree ultra-wide angle view for video calls.
You can make the Tab S8 series perform like a laptop using accessories like the Book Cover Keyboard with backlit keycaps, adjustable standing angles, glass-coated touchpad. The keyboard can also be shared with the Galaxy S22 for inputs.
