It’s been 5 years since Sony announced its full range of Signature Series audiophile products in IFA 2016. After years of development, Sony has finally released its Mark-2 versions of the digital Walkman WM1Z and WM1A. The new DAP products are simply called NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 respectively.
Sony shares that it took them so long to release their second-generation digital audio players because it would be pointless if it was almost the same. Sony’s Sound Engineer, Hiroaki Sato, shared that they have introduced several small innovation that focuses on height and breadth of sound,
NW-WM1ZM2 list of improvements
- 99.99% Oxygen-Free Copper Chassis (increased from 99.96%) – enhanced acoustic clarity
- Lower ground resistance
- Large Solid High Polymer Capacitor – Stronger power supply heightens acoustic expressiveness
- 4 wire braided thick KIMBER KABLE cables connects to the balanced headphone jack
- High Quality Sound Solder Containing Gold – improves sound localisation and wider sound space
- Optimised Circuit Board Layout with OFC milled block – covers the digital block to strengthen digital ground and improve noise shielding

- High Quality Sound Solder Containing Gold – improves sound localisation and wider sound space
- Optimised Circuit Board Layout with OFC milled block – covers the digital block to strengthen digital ground and improve noise shielding

Availability from April 2022 in Singapore
The NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 will be available in Singapore from April 2022 at a recommended retail price of S$4,999 for the NW-WM1ZM2 and S$1,899 for the NW-WM1AM2. Pre-order customers will receive a limited-edition Sony Engineer memorabilia. Demo units are available at Sony Store Wisma from today, as well as Connect-IT (9-15 Feb, 2-8 Mar), TK Photo (23Feb-1Mar, 16-22Mar) and V3 Sim Lim (16-22 Feb, 9-15 Mar).
