After almost 5 months since it’s official launch and sale, the Google Pixel 6 series is finally available officially on Google Store from 15 Feb 2022. The Pixel 6 (128GB) retails at S$999 in Stormy Black and Sorta Seafoam. The Pixel 6 Pro (128GB) retails at S$1299 in Stormy Black and Cloudy White.
This time round, Google has also abandoned the fabric case with the more conventional translucent soft polycarbonate material, dual-layered construction and raised edges to guard the Pixel camera strip. They are sold at S$49 each and comes in Soft Sage, Stormy Sky, Light Frost and Google Store-exclusive Golden Glow.
So what are the new features on the new Google Pixel 6 smartphones? Spec-wise, it runs on Google’s own processor, Google Tensor, a mobile system on a chip (SoC) designed specifically around Google’s industry-leading AI. Google Tensor enables entirely new capabilities and makes Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro more helpful and more personal.
Both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have a new 1/1.3 inch camera sensor on the back, capturing up to 150% more light (compared to Pixel 5’s primary camera), which means photos and videos will achieve greater detail and richer color. Both phones also have new ultrawide lenses with larger sensors. For Pixel 6 Pro, it has a third telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and up to 20x zoom through an improved version of Pixel’s Super Res Zoom. There’s also an upgraded ultrawide front camera that records 4K video.
To me. one of the big reasons for buying a Google Pixel phone is its A.I. software like Live Translate, Magic Eraser, and several enhancements that you can only get with a Pixel phone. With the new iconic design of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, they stand out and complement your unique fashion sense.
The Google Pixel 6 series seems affordable compared to the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy S22 series, and now thet Google has adapted the “trinity” camera config, it will certainly attract more consumers who wants photographic flexibility which all other smartphone brands have been offering.
