Samsung opens the Galaxy Studio at Civic Plaza, Ngee Ann City Singapore, from 14 April till 29 June, 11am to 9pm. The elaborate set-up showcases the new line-up of device and service additions to the Galaxy ecosystem, with the newly launched Galaxy S8 and S8+ at its heart. Samsung calls this ecosystem Galaxy Plus. With all the Galaxy products working with the S8 series, it gives consumers greater reasons to invest in the latest Galaxy smartphones. So what can you do with it?
Hands-on Galaxy S8 and S8+
Everyone wants to try out the latest Samsung smartphones, and this is the best place. Of course, other than the smartphones, you can also try out the Gear S3 watch, the Gear IconX earbuds, Gear Fit2.
Comparing to the Huawei P10+ and LG G6, the S8 is the smallest yet possess the largest screen size (5.5-inch, 5.7-inch, 5.8-inch respectively).
If you like the phones after trying, you can immediately make a pre-order at the Galaxy Studio and you will be able to collect on 22 April. The smartphones will go on retail sale from 29 April.
VRtainment
Paired with the latest Gear VR with Controller, the S8 and S8+ lets consumers immerse in virtual reality adventures. At Galaxy Studio, you can experience wild rides without going to real amusement parks. Live 360
With the newest Gear 360 (2017), consumers can record 360-degree photos and videos which supports live streaming. Read my lengthy review on why 360 cameras are awesome. The Gear 360 is water resistant, looks cute and retails at S$348, a fabulous price. It also supports other Android phones as well as iOS, so I hope that would encourage more people to explore 360 content. When you buy together with the S8 or S8+, the new Gear 360 will cost just S$298.
Work X Play
Samsung S8 and S8+ can be unleashed into a desktop when it docks to the DeX Station, which looks similar to the new Samsung Wireless Charger Convertible. It behaves almost like Windows desktop, complete with multi windows and shortcut keys. It retails at S$198 but will cost S$148 with every Samsung S8 or S8+ purchase-with-purchase. Note that the price excludes the monitor, keyboard or mouse.
Secure Shopping
Samsung Pay is not unfamiliar in Singapore. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ now supports additional authentication, iris scanner to pay for your purchases. At Galaxy Studio, try that and get yourself a free treat.
Galaxy Studio Activities
Like previous roadshows, the Galaxy Studio is set up with themed experiential zones, each incorporating the use of the latest Samsung Galaxy products. Activities at the specially curated zones include:
• All-new 4D VR Experience
Visitors can enjoy new thrilling 4D VR experiences, such as taking an exhilarating ride down a skeleton track in Whistler, Canada, or getting a feel of extreme aircraft stunts on the new Whiplash Pulsar 4D chair. They can even battle it out in space in VR-style, all via the Samsung Gear VR with Controller.
• Embark on an Interactive Fitness Journey
Visitors can get their adrenaline pumping in this zone by going for a virtual game of tennis or a swim, while also getting to try out first-hand the enhanced fitness features and capabilities of the Samsung Gear S3.
• Gaming with Vulkan API and AKG by HARMAN
With Quad Speakers on the Galaxy Tab S3 and high-performance in-box earphones for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, both tuned by AKG by HARMAN, consumers can now enjoy a more immersive and audio-rich combat gaming experience together with Vulkan API on the devices.
• IP68 Canvas Drawing
Visitors can take a selfie with the Galaxy S8’s f1.7 8MP AF front camera, and transform it into an artistic canvas portrait drawing in ink, oil or liquid effect while experiencing the phone’s IP68 capability. They can also bring their favourite portrait home, printed by the Mobile Photo Printer.
• 360°Globe with Gear 360 (2017)
In the Gear 360 globe room, visitors can experience a mystical whirlwind and the different ways to capture their travel memories in 360°using the new Gear 360 (2017). They can also participate in the Photo Contest by striking their best pose and uploading their 360°video onto Instagram, to stand a chance to win4 a Gear 360 (2017).
• Samsung Pay Café
Consumers will get to experience a whole new and safe way of shopping in this zone. Using Samsung Pay on the Galaxy S8 or S8+ and its Iris Scanner for added security, visitors can enjoy a complimentary popsicle.
• Experience Latest Innovations
The comprehensive product showcase area at Galaxy Studio will provide visitors with the opportunity to get a hands-on experience of the latest devices and offerings including the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Galaxy Tab S3, Gear VR with Controller, Gear 360 (2017), Samsung DeX Station and Mobile Photo Printer.
Samsung Bi-Weekly Giveaway
Consumers visiting Galaxy Studio can also stand a chance to win attractive prizes in the bi-weekly giveaway!
