Close friends would know that I am working on my next Piano Spa album, which will be number 7. Most of the earlier albums are composed and arranged by me, except PS4 (half by Fred Lin), PS5 (entirely by Fred), and PS6 (half by Tat Tong).
Actually, it is almost done save one track.
Last night, instead of working on that last track, I ended by arranging a cover song. It hit me when I listened to the version sung by Elton John and Ray Charles. It was reportedly Ray’s last vocal recording before he passed away. It was an absolute poignant rendition.
Here’s my version with just one chorus section. I’m not quite a fan of repeating musical sections.
The last time I did a cover song was back in 2012, “They Long To Be Close To You” by The Carpenters.
